B&G has a number of Common Areas that all residents are welcome to use. Remember, this is your home now! Click on any of the Common Areas below for more info.
The B&G canteen is run by a small group of residential scholars; B&G residents that receive a partial scholarship to operate this facility. During the semester it is open daily between 7 and 10pm and intermittently through semester breaks.
The B&G canteen sells a variety of items from ice cream, chocolate and chips to a quick and easy noodle dinner to cocktails. It is a great place to go at the end of a long day and relax with some fellow residents.
The B&G library is stocked with a variety of books for recreational reading and research/study related reading.
It is open all day during semester periods for residents to use as a quiet place to hang out or study and is staffed by the B&G academic team between 7 and 10pm each night if you wish to borrow books or engage with the academic team in any other way.
B&G has a number of music rooms that all residents are free to access if they wish to practice whilst residing here. They will just need to email the Front Desk to arrange access.
There is also a Grand Piano that residents may have access to for 2 days at a time. To use the piano, you will need to go to the office during office hours to sign out a key that will allow you access to the room where it is kept. This facility can be popular so we ask that everyone be respectful by returning the keys when their turn is up so other people can also take advantage of the piano.
The redbacks lounge is next to the canteen and is a great place to relax and consume your purchases. There are a number of lounges and small tables for groups to sit together and play games or fire up the projector and watch a movie or some foxtel on the big screen. There is also a games room off the Redbacks Lounge which contains a number of pool and ping pong tables for residents to use through out the year.
During exam periods each semester, B&G dedicates our function rooms as study spaces to encourage residents out of their rooms and into a group environment. This space is set up with tables, chairs and powerboards so residents can plug their computers in as well. There is usually a quiet study space and a group study space (with quiet talking allowed) available each semester.
B&G has a number of tutorial rooms that can be booked for special interest groups or as study space for groups of residents. To arrange a booking in one of these spaces, please contact the Front Office.
