The purpose of the Gender and Sexuality Advocates (GSA) is to ensure a holistic integration of matters pertaining to gender, sexuality, and sexual health at Burton and Garran Hall. Whereas other leadership teams focus solely on one dimension of residential support (e.g. pastoral, academic, cultural/social, services), the GSA focus on all of these dimensions through the specific scope of their role (i.e. gender and sexuality). Previously, this role has been involved in initiating an ANU Mardi Gras event, and run other such events such as gender-specific health talks, healthy relationship nights, STI health check-ups, and even Rocky Horror Picture show evenings This concurrently enhances the network of support provided for residents and promotes a healthy environment for all residents.
